Looking after people is at the core of what we do and we work hard to make life at Dishoom the best it can be. We definitely don’t see ourselves as just offering jobs – we care deeply about our people and are committed to creating satisfying, long-lasting careers.
With world-class learning and development programmes alongside some of the industry’s best benefits, we’d like to think that we’ve become one of the very best employers in hospitality (this year we ranked in the Sunday Times Top 10 best places to work).
As well as running busy sites with big teams, we also understand the importance of doing more: from planting trees with our teams in the UK and India, to helping feed children through Meal for a Meal. As of January 2024, we are proud to say that we have donated 20 million meals (and counting) to children in the UK and India. As a Dishoom-walla, you contribute 55 meals per shift to this cause.

Training and Development
We believe in developing people and are committed to building a supportive and enriching work environment for all. Our learning and development programmes are bespoke, highly specialised and world-class. Ambitious team members are encouraged to enrol in either Kitchen Academy or Babu Masterclass; each of these helps to craft skilled, knowledgeable and happy managers in the kitchen and on the floor. We also welcome new starters with open arms, carefully pairing them with a dedicated Welcome-walla to guide them through the initial weeks of their journey.
All in all, our investment in our people is deep and means that team members stay with us to grow and thrive. This dedication to developing our team with world-class learning and development programmes means that jobs turn into satisfying long-lasting careers.
One of the best things that we do
Bombay Bootcamp
Anyone that is with us for five years or promoted to Head Chef or General Manager, is taken to Bombay for the Bombay Bootcamp: an immersive, once-in-a-lifetime, 5-day tour to learn about the city’s food, culture and heritage.
Led by a Dishoom founder, the team starts the day with early chai and omelettes at Kyani and Co., lingers in Horniman Circle, indulges in the culinary delights of Mohammed Ali Road and enjoys a leisurely stroll along Chowpatty Beach. From the Irani cafés that inspired Dishoom to the stories, histories and small oddities in between, this is definitely one of the best things that we do.
High spirits and big thanks
The Dishoom Family Mela
This is our stand-out, annual, iconic, MASSIVE summer celebration. For one day every summer we close the restaurants and put on a full-on festival in a field for all Dishoom-wallas, suppliers and everyone’s families. It’s our way of saying thanks, of showing deep, sincere appreciation to everyone that is part of our Dishoom world – for doing their bit, for being awesome, for making every day better.
If you’d like to be a part of the revelry next year, do take a look at our job openings. We can’t wait to meet you.
We all spend so much of our time at work. It must be true that the relationships we build there play a key part in our happiness and fulfilment.

We’re immensely proud of the hard work our team puts in to creating the best possible experience for all of our wonderful guests. We're also deeply grateful to have been recognised by a few rather important people and places for these achievements.
